The Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary is located at the heart of a critical spring staging area for hundreds of thousands of migrating Sandhill Cranes, and visitors can experience one of the last great wildlife migrations on the planet. Outside of the spring migration, the sanctuary boasts close encounters with iconic grassland and riverine birds.

 

Hours of Operation: Jan 1 - Feb 17, 2026 and April 12- Dec 31, 2026

  • Visitor Center hours are 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, Tuesday-Saturday.  
  • Trails are open dawn-dusk. (East trails are currently closed)

Crane Season Hours of Operation: Feb 18 - April 11, 2026

  • Visitor Center hours are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, every day  
  • Trails are open 9:00 am - 4:00 pm*
    • Seasonal trail closures in place to limit disruption to cranes. 
    • *Hours subject to change at staff discretion, if necessary to prevent disruption to cranes. 

Year-round

  • Admission is free.  
  • Pets on a leash are only allowed in the parking lot and in a designated pet exercise area south of the parking lot. No pets are allowed on the trails.
