Connecting nature with the classroom.

Here at the Iain Nicolson Audubon Center, we believe the connection between what students are learning in the classroom and nature is an invaluable learning tool. The outdoor experience provides unforgettable lessons not only in science, but in all disciplines and in the process fosters awareness, appreciation and understanding of Nebraska's natural heritage.

Outdoor learning provides students concrete experiences to clarify abstract concepts, motivates those reluctant learners, brings variety to teaching and learning, and is compatible with many educational practices. (Herbert Broda, 2007)

Among the topics we delve into are animals and habitats, prairie, adaptations, wetlands, migration, birds and more. We follow new science standards in accordance with the Nebraska guidelines. Call us to learn what programs best meet your educational goals.
