Crane Season

Rowe Sanctuary announces 2024 Crane Season Dates

Reservations open online only Wednesday, January 3, 2024

(GIBBON, NEBRASKA – November 15, 2023) Today, Rowe Sanctuary released the opening date for Sandhill Crane tour reservations: Wednesday, January 3, at 9:00 am, online only. Rowe's crane viewing experiences begin March 9 and run through April 6, 2024.

Rowe Sanctuary has long been the premier location to experience the Sandhill Crane migration. Their sunrise and sunset tours provide exclusive access to the banks of the Platte River and allow a close-up view of the cranes lifting off the river in the morning and settling back into river roosts at night. Participants in these tours will hike to hidden Discovery Stations strategically placed along the river.

Since the Iain Nicolson Audubon Visitors Center opened at Rowe Sanctuary in 2003, their Crane Season programs have grown to host more than 32,000 visitors each Spring. This year, the Center is under construction, but morning and evening tours will continue as usual.
