As the weather cools and leaves brighten to orange and red, the season invites us to give thanks for the beauty of natural places. The Kearney Area Community Foundation’s (KACF) Give Where You Live (GWYL) campaign provides an opportunity to recognize local organizations that work to make our community a better place through financial support. This year’s theme is “Recipe for Success!” Last year, GWYL raised nearly $2 million in donations funding over 200 nonprofits within Kearney. On top of this success, KACF provides a percentage-based match to bolster the total dollar amount flowing to organizations.
Audubon’s Rowe Sanctuary has participated in GWYL for nearly a decade, and every year we are motivated by the gifts that come from near and far to champion the important conservation and education work we carry out along the Platte River. Please consider a donation to Rowe Sanctuary to help maintain habitat for birds Sandhill Cranes, Whooping Cranes, Piping Plovers, Lesser Yellowlegs, Bald Eagles, and scores of other wildlife.
This year, we aim to raise $15,000 through GWYL – and we invite you to join us in this endeavor! Early giving is open now, or you can donate on GWYL Day on Thursday December 4th, 2025. All funds raised will support Rowe Sanctuary’s conservation and education programs and will be reinforced by KACF’s challenge match pool. like We are so grateful to be a part of such a strong, philanthropic community that inspires action in saving birds and the places they need.
